A Wayward Wind is a gripping tale of three former runaways whose troubled past spills over into the present when tragedy reunites the trio and spins them off into yet another unlikely venture together. When Jay Harte returns from the Army a highly decorated but disillusioned veteran, a desperate letter from his childhood friend, Oliver Freeman, now incarcerated on death row in Angola prison, launches him on a heartrending search for his youthful love, Hattie Trudeau.
Post Vietnamese WarReviewed by Leslie Betts, 2010-03-03
I enjoyed this book. I wanted a book about Vietnam but it was more the story of 3 youngsters growing up in their early teens. The main character had just returned from Vietnam and was flash backing to his youth and his time in Vietnam.

This was the first book I have read by John Huffman but will not be the last. This was a great story and a very good book. I could hardly put it down. As a retired high school teacher in Jasper, TX I can relate to the characters in the book. He made the characters come to live.
A snapshot in time....Reviewed by The King of Crickentree, 2010-02-02
John Huffman has the ability to let us see a time in the past that resonates with all of us, regardless of our age or where we are from. His characters are all people that we have met at some point in our lives. A Wayward Wind leaves us with a contented sigh, a smile and a feeling that the characters will all be fine, no matter what the outcome. Another excellent effort from one of the of the best new story tellers around. Huffman gives us another one that you pick up and won't put down until you find the end of the tale. Thanks You John!

All the praiseworthy exclamations there are in the dictionary would
be impossible to accurately describe this excellent book.
Be forewarned though, reading it might entice you to take a long
adventurous trip, or you might even fall in love.
